Dont forget the Milk! Planning for Success Part#2

Have you ever went to the local grocer to purchase you groceries without a list? I bet everyone has. Have you ever gotten home only to find that you forgot something you needed? I can tell you I'm guilty. What I do is this; if there are more than three things I need, Write it down. What if its just four items.... sorry got to write it down. This is planning for success in most simple terms. Do I know what I need? You bet I do. Do I still forget, Yep, thats why I write a list.

In the same way, that I need a grocery list, we need a plan for our lives. Let me ask, If you've never experienced your success, how ya gonna know how to get there without a plan? If you've got a plan that isn't written down, how are you going to make sure you follow that plan? So the first step for this principle is "Get A PLAN"

What if part of my plan changes you may ask? ok Change the details, dont change the plan. Why? Its simple for example lets say we have a family budget of $1,000.00 per month. We set aside 500.00 for Mortgage, 200.00 for power, 50.00 for gas and water, 100.00 for clothes, and 150.00 for food. Ok the electricity bill comes in and its 225.00, do we throw out our whole plan? NO!, we adjust our figures in the most reasonable places, maybe we take the 25.00 from the grocery budget...

Ok next... how do I plan? Answer... baby steps. For example if I want to become a doctor.... ok College 4 years, medical school 4 years, Medical boards... you get the picture right. What if its not that simple? Plan for what you know.. the rest will come!

Tony Robbins said "How am I going to live today in order to create the tomorrow I'm committed to?" the answer is "Get A PLAN"

We can be a total succes if 1. We take responsibility for our lives 2. We Decide to Succede 3. We choose success by "GET A PLAN"

What if? Why not?

Sometimes, when you open yourself up to opportunities, ask yourself these two questions, What if...Why not? This is such a simple principle; you would be shocked on the results you might get so easily. This principle says basically that when opportunity arises... just try it What if I...___________(fill in the blank) why not? Sometimes, in order to succeed you only need to lean into the direction of success and the rest will happen automatically. When you open the possibility with "what if", you automatically change your perspective into problem solving mode. This forces you into problem solving mode rather than complaining, griping, whinning. Make yourself be open to opportunities and be willing to grasp any tiny chance that comes your way by solving problems, not focusing on the challenges. You need to be willing to lean into it and see how it unfolds - ie not necessarily seeing the entire pathway set out from the beginning. Often we are afraid to commit or afraid to start etc because we are unsure of the path or because the outcome is uncertain. In the Big White Book, Jack Canfield states "Simply start, then keep taking what feel like logical next steps, and the journey will ultimately take you to where you want to go - or even someplace better." Sometimes this might seem like your driving through the fog and can only see a few feet in front of you, but if you keep on moving forward asking what if and why not, taking one step after another, more of the road will be revealed and soon you will be arriving at your goal! Pick an area of your life - financial, relationships, career, hobby etc - that you would like to explore and Gain Success.

Six Strings Six Things

Six Strings Six Things

Ever notice how some people seem to be able to accomplish anything? I recently read a simple story that illustrates this principle.

Lets say you have this bank account. Each day you are given an amount of money, $25,000. each day what you don't spend, is taken away and replaced with another Twenty Five thousand. This is an example of something we all have, Time. Each day we are given 24 hours, some of us spend this time wisely, some not so wisely.

In earlier discussions we discussed writing down your goals. This step is simply this... Do at LEAST six things daily, which help you reach your goals. This alone can help catapault your endeavors for ultimate success.

Remember Play to Win; Goals, Motivation, Success

Write That Song.....................Down!

Have you ever had an idea that you thought was really really good? You know one of those ideas that gets you really really excited. Countless times I have had what I thought to be a really really good melody in my head, only to somehow forget it when I made time to write it down. If only I had taken the time, right then, to write it down, maybe some of those songs would have been written.

University studies have not only suggested but have actually proven that the act of writing down ones goals, increases the chances of that goal to come to pass by some 200%. Let me say that again, The act of writing down your goals, increases the chance of them coming true by 200%.

Just as writing down your new song when it comes to you increases your chance of getting it “Written”, Writing down your goals, helps them come true. In my next post entitled “Six Strings/ Six Things” we will discuss one sure fire method of attaining your newly written “Song”. Until then remember, Play to Win!

Choose your "Song"

Have you ever decided to take a trip somewhere without figuring out how to get there? No map, compas, GPS Device, TomTom etc... I would guess it would be impossible to get to your desired destination without some form of direction instructions. Take notice of the word "Desired" in bold. I didn't say you couldn't get somewhere. You might even end up in a place you really like (That happens sometimes). You just wouldn't end up where you wanted to go.

Interesting enough, we do that often with our lives. We don't choose our "Song" our destination. How do you know if you've arrived if you don't know where you are going. So often we live our lives "One-day-at-a-time".

Today I challenge you to Choose Your Song. Pick a destination (Goal) for your life. Use this to find your direction in Life.

Play your Song, and Play to Win!

Character, cant "Play" without it!

This discussion deals with a particular aspect of a person we all must deal with ourselves. Character, its part of self. Good or bad we all have this.

William (Bill) Lear, is an excellent example of good leadership character. Lear had a nack for inventing things, great things. He is credited with the first car radio (The Motorolla), eight track players, and airplane auto pilot just to name a few. Actually over 150 patents in all.

Lear is also inventor of the Lear Jet, I sure we have all heard of the Lear Jet, they are small but very fast. They are also considered one of the very best domestic/commercial planes that money can buy. It wasn't always like this. Early in production of the Lear Jet, two of his planes mysterously crashed. Lear decided to contact all LearJet owners and ground all planes until a fix could be established. This was a highly unpopular move by Lear. This also made his reputation (as a jet builder) highly questionable. However Lear did find the problem and did repair the problem. This tarnished reputation hurt Lear sales in the short term however it bought him respect within that industry. Ask anyone in the Jet industry, Lear is a well respected name.

We need to develope in ourselves that kind of character. A character that says "I will do the right thing..... ALWAYS" This one trait in its self can catapault yourself into unbelieveable success.

Our Character needs to be "The Rock" that wont move. In fact you cant really Play to Win without it.

Be Strengthened by the Test

I recently read a funny joke, It went something like this...

The FBI had an opening for an assassin. After all the background checks, interviews And testing were done, there were 3 finalists; Two men and a woman. For the final test, the FBI agents took one ofThe men to a large metal door and handed Him a gun.'We must know that you will follow your Instructions no matter what the circumstances.

Inside the room you will find your wife sitting In a chair .. . . Kill her!!'The man said, 'You can't be serious. I could Never shoot my wife.'
The agent said, 'Then you're not the right man For this job. Take your wife and go home.'The second man was given the same instructions. He took the gun and went into the room. All was Quiet for about 5 minutes. The man came out with tears in his eyes, 'I tried, But I can't kill my wife.' The agent said, 'You don't Have what it takes. Take your wife and go home.'

Finally, it was the woman's turn. She was given the Same instructions, to kill her husband. She took the Gun and went into the room. Shots were heard, one After another. They heard screaming, crashing, Banging on the walls. After a few minutes, all was Quiet. The door opened slowly and there stood the Woman, wiping the sweat from her brow.'This gun is loaded with blanks' she said. 'I had to Beat him to death with the chair.'

As funny as that is, we can still learn a very valuable lesson from the three job applicants. Each one of the applicants were so focused on the outcome of the exercise they didn't bother to look at what was wanted/needed by the potential employer. The FBI only needed to establish their loyaly, as finally proven by the last applicant (the Woman).

Its so sad that even she failed the test, (by actually killing her darling hubby). Dont be so outcome oriented that we fail to see the real value in our trials. God can allow all kinds of things to happen to us that strengthen us, correct us or teach us.Take your trials, Learn, Focus!!! Be strengthened by the TEST! and lets Play to Win!!

Famous Failures

These People really didn't fail, They just hadn't won YET!!!

It's Your Fault

I, You, We, must take responsibility for our lives. What dose that mean you may ask? First lets gain an understanding that you are where you are in life because of YOUR decisions. Let me repeat that, YOU ARE WHERE YOU ARE IN LIFE BECAUSE OF YOUR DECISIONS. With every situation you face in life, your decisions are needed to produce an outcome. It therefore stands to reason, If I made the decision, then I am somehow also responsible for the outcome.

Do you ever complain about your employer, co-worker, spouse, income, living conditions, weight....etc....? Why, all of these things are directly related to decisions "WE" made. If we make these decisions that affect our current situation, we can make decisions that affect our future. As a matter if fact, we can shape our destiny.

You wouldn't loose your car keys at the mall and look for them in your living room, just because the living room is smaller and easier to search. No you wouldn't. You would look in the mall for them. If you believe that your are responsible for your destiny (Taking responsibility for your life), then you must believe that whatever the situation im in, "IT's MY Fault"!

We can change our destiny. We can live our lives in success. We can succede. Just remember, quit complaining, Make Decisions (Commitments), Your life is your responsibility, ( IT'S YOUR FAULT so Play to Win )

Write Music You Cannot Play

We are all motivated differently, and just as the term "Success" can have different meanings to each of us, so does the internal motivation each of us need to get ourselves going. If we are not satisfied with our lives then we need to try something different. Remember If we keep doing the things we've been doing, the it stands to reason that we will keep getting the same responses which we have been getting also. While I was in college I would write this really cool music and show it to my friends. "Cool" they would say, "you can play this?" "No!" I would exclaim. "but now I've got a goal" What a goal! play your own music. Have you ever had a goal for yourself which you did not have the skills to achieve? I certainly hope so. I once heard a man say that if you reach all your goals then you're not really setting goals are you? So today.... I challenge you. Today lets write music you cannot play. Lets set goals and standards for ourselves which require self determination. Streach yourself and remember, "Failure is only failure if that is the point in which we quit, otherwise the failures we face are just practice for future "Success"!!!!!!! -=-Thanks Scott Rayburn
